Rund 104.000 Follower zählt “We Want Plates” auf Twitter und auch auf Facebook haben rund 45.000 Menschen ihr Däumchen gehoben. Sie haben es satt, dass ihr Essen nur noch auf Brettchen, Schiefertafeln, in Pfannen, Töpfen, Körben, Gläsern, Schuhen oder Bechern serviert wird, aber nicht mehr auf Tellern. Und genau darum geht es der Community. Sie wollen Teller!

Die einen finden es kreativ, sind gelangweilt von der immer gleichen Weise, Essen zu servieren. Einen Burger vom Holzbrett oder Wurst und Käse von der Schieferplatte zu essen, ist doch wirklich etwas anderes als es auf einem Teller serviert zu bekommen. Die meisten Gastronomen bezwecken mit dieser Art der Verwendung des Geschirrs vielleicht sogar ein gewisses Konzept. In der Sternegastronomie beispielsweise ist es nicht unüblich, dass Essen in einer besonderen Weise serviert wird.

Aber natürlich sind auch die Kritiker im Recht, wenn Gastronomen mehr Geld dafür verlangen, nur weil die Spaghetti Bolognese in drei unterschiedlichen Einmachgläsern serviert wird oder Skurrilitäten wie eine Axt als “Teller” zum Einsatz kommen.
